 // ABOUT US

b-05.org | Project b-05

The vision b-05 is a private initiative without any institutional or political dependency. A private association has been founded to realize the project.

The b-05 association e.V. is led by the initiators of the project, Jan Nebgen and his American wife Leisa Brubaker and also consists of consultants and experts in art, finance and marketing.

About Jan Nebgen:

Having grown up on the countryside in Germany in the neighborhood of the site, Jan Nebgen left his home to study architecture and design at Otis College in Los Angeles, California. As a student, he worked along with his professors in the modern experimental architecture and design office Hype Arc where he was in contact with creative minds from all over the world, different cultures and mentalities. The intercultural understanding and dialogue strongly influences his mind and work as a designer.

A video art project that he developed in his studies was performed with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (in Zipper Hall, on 23.04.03). The event was called "Stravinsky Meets Picasso", the name of his project was "Bunker".

Having finished his studies he worked for Hype Arc on various projects being involved from the first concept to the realization of e.g. a permanent light installation (Skybox) of James Turrell in Beverly Hills, the Gumina Residence in Silver Lake and the Goldstein Residence of John Lautner in Beverly Hills.

The design office Hype Arc is known to cooperate with many reputable artists, architects and designers, therefore Jan Nebgen had the chance to work on projects with PUGH+SCARPA ARCHITECTURE, J,P:A - jones,partners: architectrure, Office of Mobile Design (Jennifer Siegal), James Turrell, minimal light artist, Nicholson Wirts Architects, RoTo Architects, SCI-ARC, Space International and many others.

Visiting home in 2005, he and his wife discovered the potential of the former Nato ammunitions depot to become an extraordinary place to showcase international art and design, exposing and introducing outstanding creative performances to the public.
The project has received full support from the citizens and the city council in Montabaur. The city, also being visionaries, provided this area to realize this exceptional project. Jan Nebgen has now left his life and career in America to work with high personal impact together with his wife on the realization
of the b-05.
